Gigabyte's iRAM, OC.com has comment on the initial review No doubt the results will be very disappointing to those with unreal expectations (actually, they're somewhat worse than I expected.) The price tag is also a bit disappointing, the initial models will cost not $50 or $80, but $150. Future Fixes? There are some reasons for iRAM's relatively disappointing results: • Throughput is bottlenecked by the SATA 1 bus speed. • Software/hardware is not properly optimized for high throughput • Some software is so well optimized to use hard drive and Windows caches that they're mostly being read from memory, anyway. • For some operations, it just takes the CPU a good deal of time to get the work done.
