GeIL Sneaks Into 550MHz Memory Modules Following Corsair Memory and some other makers of memory modules, GeIL, a well-known manufacturer of computer components for overclockers and enthusiasts, unveiled its new DDR products at 550MHz speed-bin. GeIL was the industry’s first module maker to start producing DDR SDRAM modules rated for 533MHz operation in mid-2003. GeIL’s Ultra Platinum Series products certified for 533MHz speed use 3.5ns memory chips, 6-layers PCBs, are equipped with copper heat-spreaders and may work at 2.6V ~ 2.95V voltage. 500MHz modules use 2.5-7-4-4 timings, whereas 533MHz devices boast with 3-8-4-4 timings. With its 550MHz memory products GeIL went even further and incorporated a special thermal sticker on the heat-spreader of its modules. The sticker allows users to monitor temperature of the heat-spreaders and should help overclockers to tackle issues with memory overheating Corsair Memory – the first company to launch 550MHz DDR SDRAM memory modules – also equips its products with indicators that monitor load of computer’s RAM. GeIL said its 550MHz memory modules will only be available in Dual Channel Ultra Platinum Kits. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/memory/...309130606.html |
