jmke | 21st June 2006 14:34 | GeForce 7600 series coming to AGP in Q3 Taiwan mobo maker insiders have revealed to DigiTimes that NVIDIA is cooking up AGP flavors of its GeForce 7600 graphics cards. Both the GeForce 7600 GT and the GeForce 7600 GS are expected to be ported over some time in the third quarter of this year, they say. The move is apparently motivated by continued demand for Intel's 865 series chipsets, which came out over three years ago and lack PCI Express. DigiTimes says these chipsets make up a whopping 10% of Intel's total core logic shipments, and that the company plans to continue selling 865 chipsets through the first quarter of 2007. Demand in emerging markets like China is cited as one of the factors behind the ongoing popularity of the 865 chipset family and AGP graphics cards. |
