DFI LANParty UT RDX200: ATI’s Crossfire AMD for the Bleeding Edge

DFI produced what is arguably the most enthusiast-friendly board on the retail market when they launched the LANParty nForce4 series. They then shocked the conventional wisdom among computer manufacturers when their LANParty nForce4 boards became the best seller in a market crowded with nForce4 products. With firm credentials for leadership in the Enthusiast market, DFI set their sights on producing a similar "Gold Standard" motherboard based on the ATI Crossfire AMD chipset. The question on everyone's mind is, has DFI done it again?

steer clear of this board if you like USB:)

jort 18th October 2005 19:56

yeah true jmke.

but still, witch oc'er is going to use USB2?

to transfer Superi from his usbstick?

still no way to justify the slow *** usb:)

if that "overclocker" is only buying that board for a testrig which will NEVER be used for ANYTHING productive; than sure.. yeah USB2 performance is not important.

But if you want to build a system which holds a fast AMD CPU and 4xDImms at 1T, than you most likely will see the benefice of having fast USB2.0 (external hard drives anyone? ;))

witch = heks
which = welke

;)

I think, that when you are paying an extra to get DELUXE versions of any motherboard, that it should feature SOLID performance at STOCK speeds, on all levels, including memory/vga/audio/storage

this DFI scores high on everything but USB2.0 .. but there is hope -> new Southbridge chip for the Crossfire motherboard

damn i was doubting about whitch one :D

indeed for that prize they could include a fast *** usb port.

They may also consider an SB change in their upcoming ATI dual x16 motherboard.
upcoming so not this one?:(

this is DFI using the first Crossfire mobo chips, as with everything, things evolve fast. good news is though PCIe videocards do not need 16x to be fast, the difference 4x <> 16x is nihil:)

No Sata2 and slow USB

But I see a lot of positive things:
4*512 DDR400 1T !
Better voltage regulation, amazing voltage options!
Better audio (compared to other S939 boards)

I want one !
