CPU Coolers Roundup

If you have taken a look at results you can see that all coolers coped nicely with frequencies below 3.8GHz because CPU never went over 70 degrees Celsius which is a boundary when it comes to 24/7 overclock. Intel states that tjunction temperature is 100 degrees Celsius but at this temperature values CPU is shutting down itself. Since our test CPU was tortured with LinX we can conclude that you can hardly achieve these temperatures except in case of long and intense rendering. On the other side, when we overclocked CPU at 4.1GHz some differences between models begun to emerge. As best solutions for “extreme” 24/7 overclock are Thermalright IFX-14 and Cooler Master V10. These two coolers are great choice for Core i7 CPUs in case you are into serious 24/7 overclock. On the other hand, models like Xigmatek Thor’s Hammer and Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme have proved themselves to be very good coolers for those users that won’t mind 2-3 degrees higher temperature but need to spare few bucks. OCZ Vendetta 2 hasn’t performed to good, but since its price tag is good and you get a fan in the package it can be used for moderate overclock.
