Default Corsair Announces Corsair BattleField 2 Infantry Cup Online Tournament

Fremont, CA (December 22, 2005) – Corsair Memory, Inc., a worldwide leader in high performance memory and cooling products for enthusiasts and overclockers, today announced that it has furthered its commitment to the gaming community by hosting the first Corsair BattleField 2 (BF2) Infantry Cup online tournament. In association with Team Dignitas, one of the world’s top ranked gaming teams, online registration will take place on Team-Dignitas.com and tournament logistics will be handled by these professional gamers to ensure a successful tournament. The first Corsair BattleField 2 Infantry Cup will include sixty-four (64) teams from around the world to compete for the tournament title and prizes.

“Corsair has always been on the forefront of supporting the gaming community. The idea of hosting the first Corsair BF2 Infantry Cup was encouraged by the numerous gamers we interact with regularly. The online tournament is a great way to publicly demonstrate our support for the e-sport and those gamers who demonstrate excellence in play” said Richard Hashim, Director of Product Marketing at Corsair Memory. “Hosting the Corsair titled tournament complements our ongoing grass root marketing efforts. It gives us an opportunity to reach out to an extensive global gaming audience who demand the best memory technologies that can aide in their game play. We would like to thank Team Dignitas for organizing the event logistics to have a successful first event,” continued Hashim.

The 48-hour online tournament will commence on December 29th. Avid BattleField 2 gamers from over 14 countries will play against each other in single elimination. Three selected maps will be played (Strike at Karkand, Mashtuur, Sharqi Peninsula), and the winning team will be unveiled on December 30th. Each team consists of 4 players. The top 3 teams plus the 4 most sporting players will be awarded with Corsair products valued at over $5,000.

“Corsair is the most respected memory company by gamers, and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with Corsair to make this first BattleField 2 Infantry Cup a reality,” said Michael O’Dell, Team Manager for Team Dignitas. “Based on the great initial responses we have received from the gamers, it is evident that the BF2 community is growing and that there is always a need for a well organized tournament. We look forward to an intense match and a great celebration of e-sportsmanship!” continued O’Dell.

Tournament spectators can listen to the web cast or watch the streamed video on TGBF-Radio - http://radio.tgbf.org . For more information on tournament registration and the list of prizes, go to http://www.team-dignitas.com/news.php?newsid=1908
