Core 2 support on Asus P5W mobos less than optimal

Asus put out a press release on July 27 boasting about support for Intel's Core 2 chips in its 975X-powered P5WDG2-WS Pro and P5W DH Deluxe motherboards, but reality seems to be much less rosy. According to Asus' CPU support list, the P5W DH Deluxe only supports Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors since revisions 801 and 901 of its BIOS, respectively. However, a number of users on the XtremeSystems forums who ordered P5W DH Deluxe motherboards late last month say they received motherboards with older BIOS revisions incapable of booting with a Core 2 processor installed.
