Portability is not my concern at all.

I think my setup is very safe. (obviously not AS safe as if in a case but insignificantly less safe).

I just can't agree on the cooling.

Noise, maybe. However, I tend to buy coolers stuff after carefully reading your noise/performace guides

Dirtier quicker? Yes. Significantly so? No.

------------
What can I say. I am a bit stubborn in my opinions.

not saying you should change, but saying open testbed cools better with same amount of active cooling is wrong

yes active CPU and GPU cooling outside a case will be better, but at the cost of higher noise and you need to add fans to cool down other components like chipsets, HDD, etc

That is the main cooling that concerns me.

Really? You reckon I should add extra coolers over the southbridge, despite it being cooled with heatpipes?

I agree about the HDD. Mine sits in a Cooldrive.

depends on your CPU cooling really, if it blows down onto the mainboard (XP-120 style) there is no need for extra cooling, if it's a tower cooler (Ultra-120 style) the mobo heatpipe cooling will not get airflow, no cooling

I do have the Ultra-120.
You reckon I should invest in a couple of Antec Spot cool fans?

would rather place/install a large <1000rpm 120mm+ fan somewhere, blowing air onto the mainboard, will provide better performance/noise
doesn't the Tech Station have fan mounts?

That is the most recent model you have there.

I have the first one

The position of the fan is not satisfying though.

P.S. I have the mobo on the top shelf though.

Make A custom bracket which makes 120mm hover over mobo

btw: as you see the station has fan cooling for mainboard and HDD!
