| ATI Says HD48xx and HD38xx won't mix! Despite previous reports on the internet that old Radeon 38x0 and new Radeon 48x0 cards will work in Crossfire together, unfortunately this won't happen. Two senior software guys at ATI has just confirmed that 3800 series in Crossfire with 4800 won't work and that such configuration is not supported. You won't be able to miss and match the generations and we are investigating if you should be able to mix the cards from 48x0 series. We believe you should but we won’t jump gun with this announcement. Sorry for destroying one cool dream but you will have to sell or throw your 38x0 card and swap it for much faster 48x0 generation. http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...75&Ite mid=34

| I guess that forum thread where a guy was shown using 4850+3870 in Crossfire was lying then? FUD is getting worse than INQ... |

| it means that most likely a future driver release will stop it from working or that ATI actively discourages this usage

| ATI has been all about mix and matching cards for Crossfire... just yesterday some website reported this would be an "unofficial" feature but would be left alone. Will have to wait and see who's telling the truth again, I guess... |
