Default ATI's FireGL(tm) Products Certified for SolidWorks® 2005 Software

MARKHAM, ON/ Muenchen - October 12, 2004 - ATI Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ATYT; TSX: ATY) today announced that its FireGL(tm) workstation graphics boards have been certified for SolidWorks® 2005 3D mechanical design software. Engineers and designers use ATI's FireGL graphics boards and SolidWorks to visualize fully shaded and rendered models in real-time so they can design better products faster and more accurately, speeding time to market.

With ATI's award-winning FireGL graphics and SolidWorks software, users are able to create complex designs for computer-aided Design (CAD), solid modeling and visual simulation. SolidWorks 2005 expands on the software's legacy of ease of use, design power, and affordability by also providing users with comprehensive drawing tools and new productivity features that will help speed the adoption of 3D design around the world.

"SolidWorks is the standard for 3D mechanical design software," said Brian Houle, Partner Program Manager for SolidWorks Corporation. "Combining it with ATI's FireGL workstation graphics boards gives engineers the tools they need to do their jobs faster and better by managing users' most demanding projects when running high-end 3D applications based on OpenGL and DirectX 9."

"ATI's FireGL products have the performance and reliability demanded by industry professionals," said Dinesh Sharma, Director, Workstation Products for ATI Technologies Inc. "By focusing on the needs of the industry and working closely with ISV partners, ATI ensures its hardware integrates with software so designers can work within the optimal 3D environment."

RealView brings advanced real-time rendering to the CAD market and by utilizing ATI's FireGL workstation graphics accelerators optimized for the OpenGLÒ Shading Language, SolidWorks users will experience rendering performance improvements up to 10 times faster compared to standard software rendering.

ATI's extensive lineup of FireGL products for AGP is lead by the FireGL(tm) X3-256 and includes the FireGL(tm) X2-256t, the entry-level FireGL(tm) T2-128 and the MOBILITY FireGL(tm) T2 processor for mobile workstations. Complementing the AGP line-up, the FireGL Visualization series includes the FireGL(tm) V3100, FireGL(tm) V3200, FireGL(tm) V5100 and FireGL(tm) V7100 for PCI Express(tm), which have been selected by over a dozen industry leading OEMs and workstation system integrators for their new PCI Express based systems.

ATI's FireGL products are supported by a unified driver, which is tested and certified by professional 3D ISV partners, making system administration and upgrades cost effective and simple. All FireGL products come with a three year warranty and unlimited direct access to a dedicated workstation technical support team.

Visitors to www.solidworks.com/contest can enter a drawing for an HP Compaq nw8000 mobile workstation featuring the Mobility FireGL T2 and a license of SolidWorks 2005 software. The contest runs until January 31, 2005.
