ATI Radeon 5970 "Build For Massive Overclocking" According to AMD 5 Attachment(s) |
Im not seeing how this is "built for massive overclocking".. It is simply because the ATI Overdrive tool will let the core go up to 1000 instead of just 900 like with the 5870? |
Begins with a M and ends with RKETING... Don't even think a card this powerfull needs to be overclocked... it's purely CPU limited... better overclock there... |

Why not give it a higher speed to begin with ? I'm sure it will do 1K on the core, but you will notice the powerdrain will be hughe. |
gamers don't feel the difference between a 900 or a 1000Mhz GPU... if yoy want to buy this card just make sure the rest of ya rig is not the bottleneck... |
yes they will "feel" the difference between 725 and 900mhz GPU core; if you can invest $600 in a VGA card, you can also invest in 24~30" screen, one or more, so then you'll definitely need GPU power and ocing it from 725 to 900 will pay off. 3*2560x1600 8xAA/16xAF... like I said, there's a world outside of 1024x768 benchies;) |
Percentage of gamers using > 1920x1200 is extremely tiny... but there are plenty of dual-monitor users now. The GPU power will raise the min FPS rates and make it noticeable on some games. Quote:
Powerdrain will partly depend on if extra voltage is needed... overclocking+voltage will always kill power efficiency regardless. |
