ATI Catalyst Driver comparison

Video cards are one of the most important components in a gamers computer. Making sure you have a good video card and keeping it updated to play all the latest games is a constant process. It's not just about upgrading your video card everytime a new one comes out or keeping your computer clean of dust. It's also about keeping the drivers for your video card updated as well. In the case of ATI users, these drivers are called Catalyst.
Catalyst drivers are ATI's all-in-one package for it's entire line of Radeon graphics cards. Updates to the Catalyst drivers come out once a month so staying up-to-date is a constant process. It's also not just about updating your drivers to the latest offering, but figuring out which driver version works best for you and if modded drivers are right for you. What's a modded driver you may ask? It's a driver based off the official Catalyst drivers that have certain (usully hidden) settings changed to give better performance and/or image quality. Modded drivers have been around since back in the 3dfx days so the modded driver scene isn't new. However there are a lot more modded drivers now than their used to be. Making a choice between all the available drivers can be confusing and the process of testing out each driver can get very tedious.

That's where I'm here to help. I've benchmarked many of the Catalyst drivers, including the modded drivers, and put them to the test to help you decide which driver you should use for your system to get the most out of it. Go on to the next page to find out more information on how these benchmarks were done.
