The question that everyone is posed, it is of course what it is performances. To speak frankly, those are not a revolutionist and the profit brought by the controller Dual Channel is rather weak on the majority of the current applications. On average, and at frequency equalizes, one can consider that Dual Channel offers a profit of performances ranging between 0% and 5% according to applications'. AMD A included/understood well besides since P-Rating applied is very correctly proportioned and that Athlon 64 3500+ is very close in term to performances that Athlon 64 3400+, in spite of the controller Double channel. Not a revolution thus, but an awaited and beneficial evolution.
no need to wait for S939 it seems

what to think of this...

we see in gaming environments, the only reason for us mere mortals to buy these incessantly expensive machines, the advantage at the same speeds of the athlon socket 754 xp 3400+ over the socket 939 3500+. it seems the double cache wins out on the double channel at the same clockspeed...
quite an interesting thing...

we see the 3800+ having some advantage just due to its clockspeed. but as it will probably not overclock any further then a socket 754 xp3400+, it seems like a waste of money to go this way.

THE hot item is still a socket 754 a64 3200+ on some nice cooling

what are you waiting for DOC? ;)

The Senile Doctor 25th May 2004 14:49

my mach2 gt.
still about a month, and then i'll first see what the 3.0 does.
if that ones goes over 4, I won't be upgrading :)

are these mobo's that were used socket 939 mobos?

jmke 25th May 2004 14:49

I think a P3-500 will do over 4 with a Mach II GT ;)

for the mobo question, answer lies here I think: http://www.x86-secret.com/articles/cpu/s939/s939-2.htm
