We have discovered that indeed AMD is preparing an Athlon 64 2600+.

We predict this part will be a Socket 754 1.6GHz 512KB L2 cache offering. It also may be possible for it to show up on 939 as well.

Hm, AMD is working backwards. :^D . Actually, that's a smart move. First sell the expensive ones to the enthousiast, and then introducing the cheaper ones, for the budget people, without having to drop the price of the higher model. Pretty smart

Tor the overclockers this won' be such an interesting CPU, because of the to low multiplier.

In electronic field, the only one thing left to do with products that do not meet specs is to create a lower performance item; i.e. a rejected +/-3% resistor could be sold as +/- 5 or 10% value resistor. No waste!!

When a product began life and grew into hihger speed, quality increases; but the catalog still carries the lower speed product which has better chance in Ocing.
