Apple never fixed those borked keyboards

Or rather it did... denied it did... and its solution didn't work

Fruity cargo-cult Apple is has not been able to do anything to fix the borked keyboards on their high-end PCs – despite a few class actions.

Apple’s PCs come with a design feature which enables keys to become stick or dead, forcing users to take them into be repaired or write off their expensive mistake.

In June, Apple offered to repair computers with these keyboards for free for four years following the date of purchase.

Apple insisted only a "small percentage" of users were affected and it was assumed that Apple would fix the issue when it released.

In July, Apple slightly redesigned the very low profile butterfly keyboard on its MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Apple insisted that the change was not because "a small percentage" of the previous version was rendered useless by a speck of dust, the company said, but to make it quieter.

iFixit teardowns of the hardware revealed that Apple had added a silicone membrane under the keys that looks quite a bit like it's meant to keep dust and debris from lodging under the key and locking it up.

OK, so Apple didn’t want to admit making a mistake, and the problem was fixed, right? Er no.

The MacRumors forum already has a long thread about the "gen three butterfly keyboard" where users have been sharing their experiences since Apple updated the design. They are reporting the same old problems.
