Antec Notebook Cooler

The Notebook Cooler is designed to keep a constant airflow underneath your laptop which in most cases is where it will be drawing air from which will help the laptop's cooling to work as efficient as possible. Laptop computers are not cheap so you might as well have it running as cool as possible.

This otherwise capable laptop cooler has a fatal flaw - it sucks air from the top and blows it downward - contrary to the reviewers notes. The twin fans are centrifugal style (presumably to keep them quiet) and are not reversible. I called Antec about this and they are aware of the problem and their response was that, "not all laptops airflow the same way" which may be true but I have several laptops and I have yet to see one where the air flows top down - it's counter-intuitive. Of course if you have one of these rare birds, by all means by this cooler it's otherwise a nice unit. If your laptops are like mine, (Compaq, Lenovo, Toshiba) this "cooler" will actually make your laptop run hotter (depriving it of airflow) and perhaps damage it.

One big giveaway that this is a design flaw is that Antec's new laptop cooler (200 model) air flows in the opposite direction (from the bottom up.) I asked Antec for a credit toward the newer unit (my unit it also brand new) but they said no way. Due to a lack of customer service, I will not be buying anything Antec from here on out.
