AMD slashes prices for Ryzen 7 CPUs Ahead of Zen 2 launch AMD is slashing prices for Zen+ Ryzen 7 CPUs to clear its inventory ahead of the coming Zen 2 launch. Prices for second-generation AMD Ryzen CPUs have dropped, with US$50 being shaved off a performance-level Ryzen 7 2700 CPU on Newegg. Several CPUs based on the Zen+ microarchitecture have been discounted, leading to speculation that AMD is making space in its inventory for the upcoming Zen 2-based Ryzen chips. There are shedloads of rather nice deals for AMD Ryzen processors can be found on Newegg. The mainstream AMD Ryzen 5 2600 has been reduced from $199.99 to $164.99. This one has a hexa-core CPU with a clock rate of 3400-3900 MHz. The eight core 16 thread Ryzen 7 2700 which can boost its clock to 4.1 is selling for $249.99 down from $299.99. Then there is the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X which is priced at $294.99, and it can almost keep up with the much more expensive i7-8700K. It is likely that AMD is preparing for the release of the Ryzen 3000 series of processors that are based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture. While these look super cool they will almost certainly be more expensive which is why these discounted chips are worth a look at. https://fudzilla.com/news/pc-hardwar...r-ryzen-7-cpus |
