AMD set to release 3GHz Opteron 256/856 begin of April
 

AMD will launch Opteron 256 and Opteron 856 on April 4th with clock speed reaching 3GHz. It will be Socket 940 based, support 1MB L2 cache, 1GHz HT, Dual Channel Registered DDR400, 95W TDP. AMD will continue supporting Socket 940 Opteron by releasing Dual-core Opteron 285 and 885 at 2.6GHz in June and Opteron 290/890 at 2.8GHz in 2007 co-existing with Socket F Opterons.
