AMD Says That K10 Problems Will Only Be Cured by K11

Advanced Micro Devices has been struggling to deliver higher-performance quad-core central processing units for months to address the market of enthusiasts, unfortunately, without much luck. But things may be more complicated than one may imagine and the chipmaker will continue to have hard times with higher-performance chips until the new code-named Bulldozer micro-architecture arrives.

Nice to hear it's going to actually be a significant change from K10, more revolutionary and not another evolutionary design. They are going to need it if they want a prayer of lasting beyond Nehalem.

I think "very late 2009 at the earliest or early 2011 at the latest" is going to be too late. Isn't Nehalem slated for release before then?

unless they make a miracle, that slow timeschedule makes me as an Intel Stock owner very happy

Yeah, Bloomfield (enthusiast) Nehalem will launch this year, along with Gainstown (server) chips as well. I expect AMD will find a means to subsist until they can bring out K11, although they may not ever take the performance crown back for a very long time... AMD will once again become a company that offers lower performing chips at much lower prices I think.
