Default AMD Phenom II X6 in 2010?

Based on the Opteron Istanbul, it is also reported to be engraved at 45 nm and will have the same cache size, namely 512 KB of L2, per core and 6 MB of shared L3. For now the processor, code-named Thuban, is planned for the third quarter of 2010, which is astonishing given that AMD already has a 6-core Socket F on the shelves.

If it sees the light of day, this “Phenom II X6” will become part of the Leo platform that is planned for the second half of 2010. Leo will be the architecture of the forthcoming AMD890 FX/GX chipsets that will support SATA 6 Gps and USB 3.
