AMD and Intel CPU roundup: 40 processors compared!

Based on the fact that our regular processor tests focus on innovations or high end products, we decided to write this article to give you an overall view of AMD and Intel processor performances. We compared 22 processors from the Santa Clara giant and 18 from the father of the Athlon.

The Pentium 4 used to provide better performances than the Athlon 64 for video encoding or even 3d rendering but the release of dual core processors changed this situation.
I prefer the P4 over Venice 3000+ @2.7 in video encoding speed; now the Opteron 165 @2.6 is taking that function. :)

no minimum FPS compares for the games

I can't rely on the old firingsquad article all the time to show the benefits of 1 MB cache.

Computer has more than a single function, mind you.

it's impossible to dish this roundup; lack of a min. FPS does not make this article less interesting :)

Rutar 25th January 2006 18:29

yes, but for testing a processor for gaming the min FPS are important
