AMD badly screws up earnings warning AMD IS NOT QUITE as cunning as it thinks it is. Its negative preannouncement of profit warnings was timed to have minimum impact on the stock but has ended up angering every analyst I've talked to. It may have been the least bad way to say what it said, but it is far far from good. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=36914 |
noob anaylsts can't understand how much Core 2 pwns, hence lowering the prices of AMD so the margins go down |
More to do with supplying Dell at low margin, while Intel could absorb margin erosion with large SOM in other segments. |
If they had the fastest chip they could get better margins and Dell is even pimping Core 2 in their advertisment now (well, they have to because slowly the average joe now knows its the best chip) -10% today, Intel unchanged =P |
Selling to Dell is not about making money :) |
