According to AMD's naming convention, the 3700+ is the third-best processor in the company's line, with the FX-53 and 3800+ ranked above it. Furthermore, the FX-53 and 3800+ are socket 939 versions, which we recently reviewed. The 939 is AMD's new high-end processor socket, supporting a 128-bit memory interface. The 3700+, on the other hand, is a socket 754 processor. The 754 is supposedly the company's mid-level processor socket, and prices have typically been noticeably cheaper. For example, the original socket 940 FX-51 was priced at around $733 (quantity 1,000), while the first socket 754 CPU, the 3200+, came in at around $430
