Default AbiWord vs. MS Word

Flexbeta compares AbiWord to MS Word and asks: is AbiWord a worthy MS Word replacement?

Too late man; people are not going to send in a job resume to a Company with Abi only to find out the employer could not open the file.

Why abiword when you can have openoffice ?

Lazyman : What use is a Word Processor when you can't share your documents with your friends? AbiWord is able to read and write all industry standard document types, such as OpenOffice.org documents, Microsoft Word documents, WordPerfect documents, Rich Text Format documents, HTML web pages and many more.
... but no .pdf output like openoffice

Business and employers do not like it. Every 200 or more office employees are "governed" by one LAN/WAN administrator; most distribution; manufacturing; retail business will run something like POS; MRP; Forecasting system similar to SAP, BPICS, MAPICS which keeps it IT group pretty busy.

Freedom is very limited in Corporate environment.
