Abit Aw8-max

ABIT’s entry into the 955X race employs a “Drifting” theme for their box art. Can ABIT get back on track or are they destined for the pits? How well does ABIT’s AW8-MAX perform against the other Intel and AMD motherboard competitors?

The only real issue with this board is the ongoing problem that most Intel solutions currently have, which is their lack of performance relative to a comparable Athlon 64 solution. Don’t get me wrong, this board definitely performed very well, but in most cases, it just couldn’t make the grade when it was put up against the Athlon 64.
Supporting the statement, it is the first time AMD stock is trading above Intel today. Could AMD hold on to the lead? Drop the prices on X2, increase production, the answer may well be YES.:)

if they can get A64 X2 to the masses Intel will have a problem on their hand; those CPU's are killer:)

Amd does not have the factory's to make more a64's nor does it have the money to do so. Intel got about 14 factories and does got the money.

But amd is constantly updating their machinery and adjusting it to almost perfect so its very efficient.

read it somewhere on tweakers.net, nice article btw

AMD has always been making poor business decision; they do make good processors just as Intel does.

Factories produce products .... the ability to plan ahead is the key. The window of opportunity will close soon enough when Intel gets the 65nm low thermal loss processor out late next year. Until you hear the"low price" X2 is no way to be found, you then can say AMD does not have the capacity, right? :)
