45nm Quad core Q9300 available in U.S.

Tiger Direct has just listed Intel's Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU with 2.5GHz core clock and 6MB of cache memory and it started selling this piece for a saucy $299.

The is the first mainstream quad core available and funny enough this happens in the last two weeks of Q1. You can simply go and grab one while they last as I can guarantee you that no one in Europe has seen any of these CPUs.

My guess is those are made out of dies that had a partially damaged cache and Intel had to accumulate some supply to launch it.

Original Intel MSRP is $266 for the Q9300.

Excuse me? I think the Q6600 was the first mainstream quadcore... It was first, not to mention currently $70+ cheaper. :)
