Prometeia MACH II GT X3 THe SUB ZERO project.

Hi!

Just wanted to post my unit so I can share my build.

The Build :hello:

Sidney 19th August 2005 03:50

Holy cow!! :super:

Somebody has to do it; may as well be you :)

I still go Cubs!!

Whizzz 19th August 2005 03:53

May as well be! ;)

Still lots left to do but I'm getting there.

Bosw8er 19th August 2005 07:57

That is one huge MF !

Looks great ! :ws:
Wonder about the performance of such a beast.

GIBSON 19th August 2005 18:31

No, not for ECT, but I will put my two cents in when the time comes. :D

PS - G.Skill gave me one set of RAM to review for them, a set of FR. I bought the FF for myself and that's what's going in the machine. :super:

Whizzz 20th August 2005 01:47

Started some wiring today.

Whizzz 21st August 2005 06:31

Getting there. ;)

Sidney 21st August 2005 06:35

Looking good!! :)
Hope you don't need a ladder to turn it on ;)

Whizzz 24th August 2005 22:11

I have a ccouple af ladders kiking around, you never know, I might add a Prommie for the chipset and for watercooling..

Whizzz 25th August 2005 02:42

Made a little change in the wiring near the control panel, decided to put a terminal block. For those who saw a little sag in the Prommie bases I did have my supports but I just never installed them as they would have gotten in the way.

One more good day and I'll have the wiring done in the Prommie section, then I do the head mods when my aluminum plates come in for the video cards from Shore Machine Works. :)

Tried to edit the previous post but I didn't have permission. :(

jmke 25th August 2005 10:35

looks like the supports really help; your system is getting flashier with the minute:)

looking forward to seeing the performance results

Thank you!

Got the backplates from Shore Machine Works today. Now it's time to notch the aluminum plates and the plastic ones to have them sit flush to the board due to wiring and or components. :D

In this pic you can see part of the old kit on the right

Whizzz 27th August 2005 02:27

Guess I just voided the warranty.
The first lair behind the plastic was a sheath of aluminum and then the heater. I need to cut through the heater anyway, but didn't during the delicate surgical procedure.
Once I do, I will mend it!

Need to trim the Koolance bracket to get the card to seat properly.

The Build

Whizzz 28th August 2005 01:46

More surgery!
Ready for my fridge guy, a little work, then it's of to Canus Plastics to bring it back to snuff. :)

Whizzz 29th August 2005 00:59

Ok, all is ready for the fridge guy now. Once the mods are done I will take the ends to Canus Plastics and have them mold a red acrylic case around the unit, the same finish as the shims.

After much calculating there was only one inch left to play with after shims and backplate etc... Not much space there, so I will be doing a side entry to the heads. The lines will come in from the back of the cards.

Come and check this out, tell me what you think!

Getting ready to design the Prommie circuit. There will be much involved with this circuit, such as an emergency shutdown in case a device fails! I will also have a metering system that will read volts, amps and wattage from the power supply, video cards and Prommies. :)

I will work on this during the week and update as I go. :)

The meter will read AC and DC up to three devices at a time, great for PSU secondary volts. amps, power, video card too... I will need shunt resistors, current transformers and external circuit boards that go with the meter. The unit even comes with a windows based software!

I know, but, it's my personal computer for 24/7 usage, it has to be this way. :D

Whizzz 30th August 2005 00:44

Prommie mods are Wednesday morning, I will post in the evening.

Just to make sure, I indulged in a digital caliper.
I had to make certain everything would fit. Yeah sure, I just wanted a new toy! :slap:

I'm not to happy about the first Prommie I bought, I may reconsider using heaters now. :(

Whizzz 1st September 2005 04:49

Hey folks!

You know what they say about Murphy’s Law right?
"If something can go wrong it will"

The full story!

Sidney 1st September 2005 05:05

Murphy and Paul are related ...
Robbing Peter to pay Paul :)

I robbed Peter to pay Paul the fridge guy, Murphy was there during the transaction but Peter wasn't. Now I gotta rob and pay again. :hello:

Whizzz 1st September 2005 05:55

Another thing cropped up, I have to change my CPU backplate now or shim it with one of my red shims, just incase! :(

Whizzz 1st September 2005 22:58

Rock and roll baby!

Finally, now I just have to get some Dremel attachments to clean them up.

Whizzz 2nd September 2005 03:04

Managed to get the Dremel stuff to buff. 8)

I also indulged in the Multi Saw, man it can get costly using cutting pads, they don't sell them for cheap!.

As promised a peak at my new workshop (future home of the SUB ZERO), needs a paint job etc... I need the ceiling height just incase I decide to add 6 more Prommies for a triple cascade X3.

Sorry, just had to do it, like hitting a bottle of Champaign on a ship before it's launched for the first time. This is the first time I open the door to my shop.

Whizzz 2nd September 2005 04:54

Ready for Canus Plastics to do the red acrylic finish. 8)

Whizzz 2nd September 2005 06:10

Just to give you a general idea as too what I'm up to.

Whizzz 22nd September 2005 23:53

Hi!

Been a while since I posted but I'm sure you'll understand why.

We had a really tuff time getting phone service and ADSL as Bell is on strike so we axed them and went with Sprint/Rogers. Just got a 6 Mb business addition service in the shop today and I can now remote to the server on Magma (100 Mb). Between renovations, jobs and everything else I haven't had a chance to do much with SUB ZERO. We're still sanding and painting etc... but I felt I should hook-up and post.

The modified Prommie heads! 8)

More!

Whizzz 25th September 2005 23:50

After a long couple of days getting my office fixed-up and the workshop cleaned I decided to post a few extra pics. I did receive the stainless steel flex lines yesterday and I'll be getting the fridge guy's in soon to finish up. :)

More! :)
