It's indeed a manner of improving your connection ... but it's not expressed in Mbps.

Let's say your friend lives two blocks away (about 200 meters) and you can make visible contact when both of you are at home (but that ain't a requirement).
Your friend has a wireless transmitter (range 50 meters).
Now you can try to make a connection to your friends transmitter using one of the methods described above ... and have a crystalclear connection.

But I stil have a quention. How is the signal going, as only one side of the connection has a better antenna. How about the packages that go back, from the side that has no antenna.

those antenna's not only send better signals, but also can pick up a lot more signals, so the weak signals are also picked up
