Madshrimps Forum Madness - Vantec Iceberq4 Pro (modem warning)

1st review @ the [M], 1st ever for that matter.
Today I'll be looking at the vantec Iceberq 4 Pro chipset / graphics heatsink fan combo. Intended for use on GeForce4 Ti and FX5600 based graphics cards.
The packaging was nothing special, almost default retail kit. The manual (install guide) was a full 2 pages long. Not that anyone interested in this product should need anymore (anything?).

To begin some specs:
45*10mm ball bearing fan, rotating 5500RPM @12V pushing 8.6CFM drawing 1.98W.
The heatsink is copper wheighing in at 87g, with a total dimension of 88*65*15mm.
Also included are 4 small "memory" heatsinks 20*20*6mm large, typical aluminium extrusion design.
4 plastic pushpins, some generic white goop and 4 pieces of 3M "thermal-tape" complete the package. Only 2 pushpins are needed to install, and this redundancy is appreciated, I usually use screws anyway since thise things wear fast. Some extra pieces of fragtape would have been nice also.

The memsinks are nothing special, default alu extrusion as said before. A good lapping should do some good, these things tend to hollow as they cool down. Bottom is fairly smooth however.
The cooling unit itself is worth a closer look. The heatsink is 100% copper, with a mirror finish on the bottom. The fins are either carefully soldered on it, or are glued. They cleaned it up so good it's hard to see. The fan is screwed dead center onto the bottom plate. This means there isn't a lot of dissapation surface right on top of the heatsource. The copper should spread the heat out quickly however.

So, this concludes the first part of the revieuw. More of a previeuw, but there'll be more soon.
I originally needed a new chipset heatsink for my epox 8RDA+. I knew that the mounting holes of a Radeon are too close together, and a GF4 cooler are too far apart. Meaning I'll have to mod it first, if I want to make it fit the epox.
