Right now I have a Creative labs sound card in my computer along with the 7.1 card that came with my motherboard (the Chaintech 9CJS) I have a 2.1 speaker system plugged into the Creative sound card. If I purchased a 7.1 sound system and plugged it into the 7.1 card would they both work and I would therefore have a 9.2 system? That would be sweet ****.

you can only select one soundcard as the primairy sound output in Windows; so I'm afraid it won't work:)

Just wondering, but is there ANY way for me to get the two systems (the 2.1 and 7.1) to work together?

connect them both, you'll have a 7.1 and a 2.1 system next to eachother.

it can only cause interference, but it might come in handy if you use TV out, so you can have a seperate speaker set for your TV setup.

you can use em both, but not at the same time in the same application :-)
