RAID1 performance on NF3 250GB

What are your RAID experiences with the NF3 250gb chips equipped motherboards?

I'm quite impressed to say the least, the flexibility options are awesome, mixing PATA and SATA, chosing drives which sit on the same PATA cable! :)

here's my 2x120gb Maxtor setup (both drives were giving errors previously, but a low level format cleared that all up)

I have no idea, but isnt raid1 on modern disks supposed to get speeds up to 50mb/sec? (a tiny bit slower than a normal single disk)
Or is this setup slower, because it's mixed (pata-sata), or even on the same cable?
