power supply a guy i go to class with right now for my MCSA:) brought me a power supply last week. he asked if i could replace the fan int it because it wasnt working. he's had it aside with some old parts for a while and said as far as he knows it works, but it just needs a new fan. so i took it home. i opened it up and cleaned it. on the one side of the cover near a pretty large capacitor, it looked like the case has been burned almost. so anyway, i soldered the new fan on. and tested it. i checked the voltage in the bios and mbm5 on a couple systems, and they all came out to about this: 3.3v = 3.1 on average 5v = 5.3-5.4 12v = 12.9-13.1 so when i brought it back to him, i recommended he get that capacitor replaced where the casing looked burned. heh thought id share |
