1st choice, A64 will blow the P4 setup out of the water performance-wise |
well since socket 754 will be obsolete pretty soon, I can't really reccomend that. Sure it's faster for now, and unless you don't want any upgradability (or willing to shell out everything for a whole new setup) You're probably better off with the P4. Or even better safe some money and do a 2500+ Barton. They seem to hit 200fsb pretty easy these days. BTW there's a good read on the A64 situation on overclockers.com |
the best buy moneywise is indeed a Socket A solution, the best performance buy is the A64 the current crop of P4 motherboard (some at least) will be obsolete also when the next revision of the Prescott hits the market is 6-9 months either way, all current platforms will be updated to reflect an upcoming CPU change. Socket A -> Socket 754 -> Socket 949 Socket 478 -> Socket 478 + support for Prescott -> Socket XXX (don't remember the number :p but Intel is planning on a more "pinned" edition of their prescott CPU or the next one following the prescott) |
radeon 9800 pro? your gf is a hardcore gamer? |
no my gf is not a hardcore gamer but i am ;) see where i am going :D:super: |
P4 might be the most upgradable path after all, at this time Quote:
|
Dus moet ik voor P4 gaan ? |
if you want to upgrade that PC in the coming year with a faster processor then yes P4. but if you want this PC to be remain "untouched" for 2-4 years go for the A64, as you will need to upgrade your motherboard & videocard anyway :) |
