indeed bull :) |
From the beta's that I downloaded off of my msdn account I will tell you that Longhorn is going to need a high end system to run smoothly. It doesn't even run all that great on my main rig and I have a p4 2.53ghz with 1.5gb of ram. It runs like crap. Most of the time explorer.exe uses 50% or more of the cpu cycles. |
crappy coding then ! :) |
Also why it's called a beta probably. |
Who cares anyway? Microsoft will not release it before the avarage computer is fast enough for running it. And besides, most computers here ar a bit faster then the avarage ones. |
By then linux will be better than windows. No need for Bill anymore :feesten:  . |
I went to a MS lecture in the neths this friday. The microsoft dude there said the minimum specs would be a 1.3ghz 256mb and a dx7.1 vid card. Normal specs would be a 2ghz proc, 512mb and a dx9.0 capable vidcard. But since it's supposed to come out at 2006 he also said that it might change some, but not drastically. |
Hmmm... Even with a very powerful PC (AMD @ 2.4Ghz, 2*256mb bh5, ...), I don't use WinXP, KDE (linux with win look) or GNome (linux with mac look), but XFCE4: a very minimalistic destop manager. I'm not waiting for a sluggish desktop manager to arrive, :) |
