nec 2510 firmware is out, and it appears to support 2*00 to 2510 upgrade through firmware flash

what's so special about 2510? DVD9!!! one of the first widely spread dvdwriters there is atm, only 99€ in Belgian shops

the flash appears to work (writer gets detected and stuff), only so far no one
has been able to get their hands on duallayer media

The 2100A is the original 2x00A series drives, all others derive from it. The patched versions should work on a 2100A, but there doesn't seem much point in everyone flashing this firmware unless you have DL media and software to burn such media. We'd much rather see one person with media try it, than 100 me too's who don't.

nopes, and there will be no DL media for the next 3 months either, in january they were on all big suppliers their pricelist.
