see if the card doesnt share a irq
had the same prob because the card shared an irq with the nic.

i've got me a firewire card for +/- 50 Euro and use virtual dub to capture.
first i had some prob with irq and then with the firewire card after firmware update everything ok again.

also important that the hd you capture on is not the same as the hd your system is on.

hope this helps

1) you should have some kinda wdm-drivers, look into graca manual - CD. Normally they are already installed and you shouldn't even bother.
2) use composite (3 cable) or s-video + 1 composite for audio to connect cam to pc
3) check all settings in the menubar of virtual dub ... double check settings on the capture-aspect (point 2).
4) put camera in "play" mode (so you can watch the movie on LCD)
5) press "play"
6) if everything is ok you should see the movie on screen
7) capture the movie
8) Never use cropping or codecs when capturing from the camera ... you can do that afterwards. Do not be surprised if the outputfile = several GB ! Capture files to a ntfs partition as it doesn't have a 4GB file border.

I was surprised how much time it took me to learn movie-editing. It took me 14 days or so (before/after work) to get some understanding of it. It certainly ain't something for n00bs ... take your time.

Edit : investing in firewire is certainly a plus. It makes the intire proces A LOT easier.

why buy an audigy to have firewire?

Standard 2port Firewire does the trick here..
768kbps lame WMV compression

Plug in the firewire cable, windows automatically detects it, and u can start playing (Premiere, etc..)

@jasje

you still believe in santa-claus ;)

It's plug and pray, not plug and play

sound = ok, video is shaken....

wtf is going wrong ?

used windows moviemaker, Ulead VideoStudio 6 SE DVD and PIXELA ImageMixer Ver.1.0 for Sony.

thx all.

settings for capture?
settings in wdm driver?

shaken = low fps

Gamer 2nd December 2002 18:43

what do you mean about settings in wdm driver ?

Bosw8er 2nd December 2002 20:11

wdm drivers setting ? ... huh

I wrestled almost 3 weeks to get firewire working in W2K. I had to set up a dual boot with W98 where it did work flawlessly.

Hang in there ...

Remove graca and drivers and re-install everything, format, reinstall OS, try different OS, ...

There's also an issue i remember with directX and wdm-drivers. For some people the capturing worked if they worked with directx 8 (in stead of 8.1) AND seperate wdm-drivers.

capture settings I mean
if there are any
