How many pcs are better than yours? POST SCORE

at micosoft.com theres a thing called the "game advisor", which tells you what games will run on your pc after it has scanned it

start game advisor (no firefox, internet explorer only)

^^same as http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...r/default.mspx] in case the link dont work

click there using internet explorer, and then click on scan my system, then start it

(it may stop at 40%, then continue on after the activex control thing is installed)

under ur pc stats, it says "???% of computers scanned are ranked higher/lower than yours."

what percent are YOU???

(mbot?)

Don't really need to spend a lot of money is the point to play HL2 or to have to a decent system.

NV 6200 ~ $97 (510/630) really smooth with HL2 completed game once
9600XT (388/600) @ebay < $80 ; Twice HL2 really okay
R9000 (300/300) <$30; played HL2 from start to finish twice; rough

FX5900XT (485/780) costed me more when I purchased new for $170.

They are all good overclockers with stock cooling, of course. :)

eniac 29th June 2005 08:37

Top 2% with a 6600GT stock (well, a Leadtek Extreme, so a bit faster than a normal one) and 3000+ @ 2.7GHz.

Well, it sure does put things in perspective.

jmke 22nd July 2005 16:13

what new one did you order? :)

Jay-Jay 24th July 2005 19:46

Asus A8N-SLI deluxe mobo, with a A64 3000+ Venice, 2GB Apacer memory, a Raptor sata disc and one 6600GT. Within a couple of months I'll add a second one.
And very maybe a Benq PB6110 to top it off :)
Not yet ordered, still waiting for the insurance to stop by and take note of the damage. (Rain - roof drainage blocked - cracked ceiling - swimming pool and two pc's screwed)

jmke 24th July 2005 20:25

read about that @ shrimp; very bad luck there :/

what soundcard & speakers will you use in new PC?

Jay-Jay 25th July 2005 16:42

The onboard crap :)
I mainly use a headset. And my Creative DTS2200 doesn't know 6.1, 7.1 or anything newer so it's good enough

jmke 25th July 2005 16:55

might want to consider picking up a cheapo Live! 5.1 card, the difference you WILL notice

Jay-Jay 25th July 2005 19:43

Still have one laying around here. Think it's indeed a Sound blaster live 5.1.
