Home theatre

Wouldn't it be nice to have a fast & silent PC with TV-tuner, DVD-player, sufficient storage, good sound card with quality surround system and a LCD projector.

I already have a fast and silent PC with a 8500DV (with remote control) ... currently testing to hook up a VCR to it.

You could be in your lazy chair watching or recording "full wall" movies, surfing the web, playing music, playing games on an enormous screen, ... with only one remote, a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Just read the basics of a LCD home projector ... need more then 1.500 ansi and 1024 x 768 ... prices are :o ... but the result could be awesome.

Does anyone have experience with such a setup ? Or more info ?

only problem = Micro-ATX Motherboard

i seen it irl (comtech store) : it's really small, very little room to manouver

some more info

It's strange; some people say 1.000 ANSI is enough to play movies during the daytime in your semi-obscured living room (theatre doesn't have to be dark).
In that case you could have a XGA (1024 x 768) LCD projector for about 2.500 to 3.000 EUR or $ (hehe, since today currency's are equal to each other = easy) ... steep ... but not unaffordable

ftr : viewable area will be around 40"

few weeks ago i worked with an LCD-projector at some party, to show some graphics on a wall which were responding to the DJ's music ...

i must say - pretty impressive quality !!!

think it was one from Canon ... not sure bout it tho - but i'd certainly trade my 17" for one of those anyday :^)

http://www.lcdprojector.nl/index2.html

sure is expensive ... but i get :
- a movie screen and movie experience
- a computer screen 1024x768 on a 40"
- a VCR (embedded in ati-soft)
- a large TV set
- edit : a large gaming screen

and i have only one remote to control them all (can even move the cursor with the remote)

hehe, continue working now ... hard work = nice gadget

A home theatre is only as good as it components, Your 8500DV is the king! All you need is hmm an LCD projector and some decent speakers... I'll see what I can dig up :)
