jmke 2nd September 2006 19:26

for ~$1000 that doesn't seem to be a very state of the art computer :/

Crazy_Parsy 2nd September 2006 20:02

a little fixie to the messege... 4.5 shekels=1 dollar and not the opposite lol

Crazy_Parsy 2nd September 2006 20:51

so now, does it sound better to you?

Nessmaster 3rd September 2006 02:49

Hey and welcome!

I'm doing pretty much the same thing ATM. I just need to order a mobo and I got a lot of spare parts that will be used.

Nessmaster 3rd September 2006 02:57

Nope.

Gforce 6 series are outdated.
1gb of memory is old school
Pentium Ds are old news since the Cores came out.

But a workable PC none the less :)

Crazy_Parsy 3rd September 2006 10:06

wait man pentium D is Dual Core, But Core2 duo is quad ,thats what ive been told
an man u keep forgeting, this is israel 'things are little expensive here

800 gigs on 10000 RPM 16MB buffer is not enough???
and i will add some cooling to it in like a month

Crazy_Parsy 3rd September 2006 10:10

the inlights just broke....lol

jmke 3rd September 2006 11:51

Core 2 Duo is not quad:)

wutske 3rd September 2006 12:40

indeed, it does use some outdate technology, but it'll prolly be pretty fast anyway (ow, and it will suck up quite some energy too :^D ).

How are you going to configure those disks ? RAID5 would be best, but for good write speeds you'd have to buy a decent RAID card.
RAID 0+1 seems the most safe and fast solution, but you'll be left with 'only' 400 fast Gb's :^D .

Or are you just going to use them apart (or in a JBOD config ?)

The Senile Doctor 3rd September 2006 12:44

calm down.

jmke 3rd September 2006 14:28

it's not a bug, IMG code in sig is disabled for a reason:)

Nessmaster 3rd September 2006 14:28

What do you plan on using 800 gigs for?

Berry 3rd September 2006 15:19

Those disks, and that volume, is ment for PRON.

(Or @ least in my system it would be):^D

u mean phase change cooling ? There are a few PC'ers around here, or you could check out the faq's at XS: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...splay.php?f=80 .

Good luck with the Cisco certificate, one day I'll hope I can get one too (my studies are a good beginning, they seem to have a lot of Cisco stuff at KdG Hoboken :D )

Crazy_Parsy 5th September 2006 05:55

Crazy_Parsy 5th September 2006 06:01

Depends on what you want, bad motherboards hardly exist, compare the specs and look for reviews.

I've already answered this question. This is called phase change cooling and it does use a compressor like in an airco.

Those modded IDE cables will give you a better airflow, so this should improve cooling performance a bit. Anyway, if it's full of ****, get a bigger case.

Look for some reviews, anyway, if he's happy with it, it was probably a good mobo at that time. The definition of good just depends on what you want.

Last time I'll answer such questions. Plz use google/msn search/... first and plz use the button.

Crazy_Parsy 5th September 2006 13:17

thanks!

jmke 5th September 2006 21:35

hey Crazy_Parsy, it's not that we don't want people to ask for advice, but if you are interested in learning more about a certain tech, please ask us where you can find more info, or read up on something and ask if you don't understand something, post a link to where you read it and what you want to have explained further in detail.

posting general questions, like "how do I build phase-change?" is like asking "why is the earth round?"... it's a valid question, but a bit of google/research answer most of that question :)
