Liquid3D | 23rd September 2006 20:14 | Well there are so many options for the Socket-939 series? 1st here's a decent in-depth article on the E-3 caord Venice when it was released by X-Bit Labs Venice this will explain many of the processor core's attributes such as the type of memory it "agrees" with and what boards you might like to try. The DFI Ultra Nf4 is one of the best for any Socket-939 CPU
What is important to know is that if you plan on Overclocking an E-3 revision core processor such as the Venice there is a potential hazard when raising VDIMM. Lets say your CPU will overclock to 250FSB (beyond 200FSb default) and you can hold this overclock without having to change (increase) the Vcore. Well lets say you have PC3200 memory installed but now your running at PC4000 speeds and this requires 2.9VDIMM to accomplish. The on-die memory controller in the chip can be damaged unless you increase the Vcore EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED TO. http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/show...ht=Venice+core |
