Epox 8RDA3+ I just got a beautifull sample here. Brand new Epox 8RDA3+. Now supporting official FSB400, dual ethernet and Sata. I'll give a short rundown of it's specs. Pro's:
Cons:
For the "real" preformance, that what you've all been waiting for off course, you're gonna have to wait a while. I can't do it all at once... |

yeah what's MCP-T:o |
http://www.tomshardware.com/motherbo...force2-06.html Southbridge: MCP and MCP-T MCP is NVIDIA's acronym for Media and Communications Processor. The "T" version simply means "Turbo," which in this case does not translate to higher speeds, but to a more extensive range of functions. Dual Ethernet is MCP-T feature hmmm Quote:

thx alot jmke:super: :ws: |
I ripped the cooler off (whaydja think) , it's NOT MCP-T. I'll check again tomorrow, but it's got firewire, and C-media audio. However, you did loose a PCI slot for some extra chips. Could be a onboard PCI network and firewire. I am probably going to pass out on this one, I could use some extra storage space on my main rig however. I guess I'll have to get a PCI SATA card, (RAID5 and cached while we're at it), and wait untill they can be linked. Dual lan would have been easy for extra telenet account, guess I'll have to pass that one too. (no generals on the net for me) |

So far, i've been trough FTP and webservers (EZ) Several game servers (tad harder) Battlecom and gamevoice servers (BC never worked proper but GV did) Some other MMOG from westwood, earth and beyond for example. Figured port usage out all by myself since nothing was listed, and their own beta team didn't even know it (they do now). Problem with generals is that it doesn't use fixed ports. Every time there is a different initiating port and different data ports. People have tried forwarding the entire range from 5000 to 50000 and it still won't work. let's not even talk about the security issues. Furthermore, generals takes your local list of IP's, from this list you can select what IP is your internet IP. You have to create a second IP o the local machine that is the same as your internet IP, which thanx to ADSL switches every 36 hours. Only way to play generals online, is with a direct connection to the internet, unless they finally got a patch going to fix it. -----edit---- And yet anoter off topic rant, damn I =) these things  |
is there a dedicated server version of the game? |
What I want to know is if this card is worth buying? :) Or should I go for a 8RDA+ ? |
8rda3+ is better, it has that extra 12V connector so it will be more stable at high FSB and it had Sata |
Ah, k, one more question, does it have the soundstorm chip on it? Can't make that out on the epox site... Or is the soundchip used on this mainboard equal in quallity compared to the soundstorm? :) AND are these onboard sound solutions better then a 5.1 live soundcard? :) |
it's only a MCP- southbridge (no MCP-T) meanig you don't have the supreme soundstorm-APU . i don't know if the soundchip on this one is any good. mind, it doesn't have a Dolby Digital 5.1 Encoder |
It's a standard C-media type soundchip. Thus, pretty CPU hogging. You got the extra 12V, but the few CPU cycles you can gain with that are happily wasted by the onboard sound compated to the vanilla 8rda+ Chances are however that a MCP-T version might come out. A photograph of the bord in the manual is with MCP-T southbridge. And yes it's the SATA-dual lan, 8RDA3+ and not a picture of the 8rda+. |
