Athlon64 or Athlon64 X2 Dual Core

which is better?

jmke 19th July 2006 09:05

Pure gaming Single core (A64) - everything else Dual Core (X2)

slvrl7 22nd July 2006 17:48

How about A64 FX is it more powerful than A64

Gamer 22nd July 2006 20:06

yeah, go for those cheap AMD's, FX is history (for now).

jmke 23rd July 2006 18:51

slvrl7 23rd July 2006 19:07

i wait for that.
I plan to buy geforce 7900GT for full gaming experince suggestion anyone?

jmke 23rd July 2006 23:22

why would you buy a 7900 GT with 512Mb? ...

jmke 23rd July 2006 23:26

check my latest review please:)

Rutar 23rd July 2006 23:30

I have just read at ES that the cheap Conroe 6400 with the cheap 965 boards clocks insane. That might be a worthy investment when going single card (which is the best on budget).

jmke 23rd July 2006 23:31

ES ?

apparently, the steppig 5 on the 4 MB conroes lets boards only go to 400, while the 4 on the 2 MB chips lets boards do 500 and 480 MHz (retail boards)

again I ask you, why go with 512Mb version?

the GT KO SC is noticeably faster;)

jmke 24th July 2006 00:10

why do you link to that site, there's no comparo of 512mb vs 256mb 7900 GT:p

slvrl7 24th July 2006 14:06

Great 7900GT KO SC.

slvrl7 24th July 2006 15:34

if i got this 7900GT KO SC pair for sli what the best power supply can support it?

jmke 24th July 2006 16:08

The Silverstone 750W Zeus has got some very good reviews lately, including from Madshrimps;

slvrl7 26th July 2006 17:39

I have 400watt PSU now if get PSU with higher watt is that mean my electricity bill raising?

jmke 26th July 2006 17:45

not really, the PC will not use 750W, it's what the PSU is capable of power; your bill will depend on the components you use

slvrl7 26th July 2006 18:09

now i get it thanx.
that the reason why i afraid buying a PSU with higher watt.:^D

jmke 26th July 2006 18:14

uhm... I don't think you get it quite

if you run your current system with 400W PSU or 750W PSU with same efficiency rating, you won't be using more power.

slvrl7 26th July 2006 18:39

i think higher watt PSU mean higher bills but i wrong.

Rutar 26th July 2006 19:17

I think the efficency might be lower ebcause you don't run it in the optimum range.

jmke 26th July 2006 20:32

well, it's far from bad at "middle" usage (~400W)

slvrl7 27th July 2006 05:01

does computer need AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator)?

slvrl7 28th July 2006 20:13

why my +12Volt Not show 12.00volt? currently it shows 11.673.

slvrl7 29th July 2006 15:30

My +12volt rail show 17A but my geforce 6200 need 18A i think this is the problem because when i play F.E.A.R it suddenly crash.

Sidney 29th July 2006 16:33

There is no way your 6200 card needs 18Amp*12 Volt = 216 Watts of power; I don't care what game you play/

slvrl7 30th July 2006 04:31

i wrong then.

Sidney 30th July 2006 05:03

The topic was A64 or A64 X2 ..... like any project which always comes down to three elements; money, time and scope. Without mentioning money and time, it is pointless. Do want make you happy.

Time = now
Money = least amount (you can't beat X2 at 40% off from last week) + (inexpensive Mobo) + (inexpensive DDR)
Scope = decent gaming machine

Unless you are going for >21" LCD, it is pointless to go SLI, plus power supplies that go for >$150.

If you worry about electric bill, it is pointless to play PC games; in fact, PC game play costs hell a lot more money than console.

slvrl7 30th July 2006 06:46

i dont care how much money i use to buy a gaming PC but i live with my parents they handle the electric bills.

jmke 30th July 2006 17:19

then you give them $$ for power:)

slvrl7 30th July 2006 17:58

consider your right.
