And another dead TI4600

Damn damn damn, now that my vapo is back ok the ti just died on me! Just testing the system on standard settings all of a sudden screen turned black and after 5 sec it turned back on but now it looks like this:

I guess i'll be going to m² with a gf ddr :(

RichBa5tard 18th August 2002 16:01

Damn sorry to hear bicker :(

Where did you get it? If it's a good shop you'll get RMA before m²... hopefully. Is waranty voided?

I've got a Ti4200 (xelo @327|580) and a Ti4600 (visiontek @340|800), but my intention was to sell one of those 2 before septembre because i need the cash to pay my visa bill. Otherwise I'd be happy to lend you one. :^/

biCker 18th August 2002 16:07

oh yes, warranty. I didn't even think about it. My brain is melting... Purchased april this year so that 'll be no problem I hope.

RichBa5tard 18th August 2002 16:11

lol :^D

That would be the first thing on my mind. :)

Good luck with the warranty, you'll prolly get your card back in time.

The Senile Doctor 18th August 2002 17:14

ramdeath :/
failure rate in ti4600's is 40%!

Gamer 18th August 2002 18:14

sorry to hear that Bicker :(

check PM :)

ModdiN MansoN 19th August 2002 12:06

innige deelneming, maar er gaan blijkbaar veel ti4600's kaput, daarjust hier op't werk ook enen gehad die ongeveer zelfde beeld als die van u gaf

TerAngreal 19th August 2002 12:40

if necessary, you can use my GTS during M7 ...

that is, if i receive my Ti4200 from funcomp.de before the end of september

biCker 20th August 2002 17:29

echo indeed, had time-out and reposted in different words (i can't say the same thing twice  )

biCker 20th August 2002 17:38

Today I received an e-mail from Gainward with rma number. I've send the card directly to them now. Let's all burn a little candle for me and hope it comes back in time...

ModdiN MansoN 20th August 2002 18:44

is it just me, or is there an echo in here?

:-p

jmke 20th August 2002 19:11

notice the time, the BASM server is acting up
pretty slow today & yesterday :(

The Senile Doctor 22nd August 2002 11:45

replacement ti4600 has arrived, now leme get a radeon 9700 pro and I'll sel this baby without even opening the box.

Erwin 22nd August 2002 13:03

Hmm... I have exactly the same image when I overclock my ATI Radeon too far... (that is, waaaaaay too far :p )

I need to turn off my PC then, leave it out for a few minutes, and then it's back to normal. But when I hear this story I won't overclock that far anymore ;)

RMA ?

:o

The Senile Doctor 22nd August 2002 14:26

yup!
RMA is here.
Selling it directly. Won't even bother trying to overclock it, I don't have the time.

kylie minogue sings "You must be so lucky "especially for us :-)

Gamer 22nd August 2002 17:28

Ive looked at that email again, they just informed me that the card was arrived, not that they are going to send me a new one :(
must learn the German language :)

vegeta 26th August 2002 16:23

how come ? they said that warranty is voided?
or are they gonna fix the prob?

biCker 6th September 2002 18:34

Today I recieved a brand new gf4 from Gainward in replacement for the dead one. The only thing I mailed to them was the card (no box, cables or drivers cd etc). Now they have sent me a complete unopened box. What should I do, open it and use the card or try to sell it and wait for the 9700??

btw Gamer, how did you manage to rip the rammodule off together with the heatsink? When I decide to use the card I intend to use my tweakmonsters ramsinks (at last) and killing the gf4 is not an option so every hint is welcome here...

TerAngreal 6th September 2002 18:50

biCker -- the deepfreeze-trick together with bein' a bit carefull has worked for me every time until now ...

Gamer 6th September 2002 19:00

brute force :)
stupid me
you can use a knife, it works perfectly.

RichBa5tard 6th September 2002 19:02

Sell it. You can get 350$ for that card if you're a bit lukcy, while the R9700 will be available for not that much more in a few weeks. :)

biCker 6th September 2002 19:10

a knife? I was thinking of using creditcard and/or screwdriver after 2 hours in the freezer.

Selling is really tempting but a: I want to try bf1942 out and it won't work with my the gff drr it seems and b: m² is coming up and I'm afraid the radeon won't be available by then.

Well, I guess i'll have to flip a coin on this; right after dinner...

Gamer 6th September 2002 19:24

R9700 at tones and MPL.

I could buy one today for € 426 (club 3D) but they where sold out :(

lowest price I could find now is € 462 at http://www.pcdigital.nl

biCker 6th September 2002 20:04

mmm, toss said "open it and use it" but i'll put it for sale just to see how much I could sell it. +/- €500 for a r9700 isn't that expensive, certainly when I only have to"opleggen" a 100€ :grr:

biCker 21st September 2002 23:10

ohoh, what does it mean when after a cold boot there is a red shine all over the screen for the first two minutes?

hmmz, somthing with the extra power connector I think.

biCker 21st September 2002 23:50

extra power connector? Explain plz

Gamer 24th September 2002 22:08

there is no extra powerconnector at the Ti 4600 :p

red shine ?
not good I think ....
It isn't your monitor ?

TeuS 25th September 2002 07:39

i know that stuff
a)the vga connecter behind your screen causes it
=>my old screen turned purple, after a while more and more. brought it to a hw-shop and he replaced that cable on the rear of my screen.
b) your vga connecter to your graca: when i don't put it properly on, it also turns into strange colours. check your connections

biCker 25th September 2002 19:52

your right teus, I forget to tighten the dvi>vga connector and my cat did the rest ;) thx

jmke 25th September 2002 21:01
