AGP card DVI out 1280x1024?

I'm wanting to buy a new video card, interimly to optimize Vista but eventually to drive a Dell 24" LCD monitor (native resolution 1920 X 1200).

Is there an AGP video card with a DVI out that supports 1920x1200 (via DVI out) resolution?

Ideally I'd like a card with 2 DVI outs so that I could add my ViewSonic 19" LCD (native resolution 1280 x 1024) however, I'd willingly forgo the dual setup for a single 24" monitor.

My present machine:
XP Pro
MaxThon 1.5.9 & IE7
FP 2003
WD Beta1 Thunderbird 1.5.0.9

Asus P4P800-SE
Intel P4 3.0c
2 GB DDRAM
(3) WD 10,000 RPM Raptor HDDs in Raid 3 config
XFX GeForce 5600, AGP, 128MB, w/nVidia driver V. 78.01
Antec True Power 480W
Dual view: ViewSonic 19" LCD monitor & Dell 17" CRT monitor

I'm not much of a gamer but I do have a couple for guests.

Thanks,

Kerry

1920x1200 shouldn't be a problem for any of the last generation AGP cards (nvidia 6 series, ATI X8xx series).

Hi jmke,

Long time. Happy New Year.

Thanks for replying.

I wrote to Dell and they replied, "Any card better than nVidia 6600." Based upon that reply I ordered a BFG 7800GS AGP from Newegg but since then I discovered that it will only drive a 24" via analog out. Now Newegg wants to charging me $35.40 restocking fee plus they charged me $44.95 to ship it to Hawaii. Ugh. Live and learn. I'm hoping that if I order a card from them that they'll waive the restock fee.

I posted here hoping that a member will be able to confirm that a specific model definitely does work.

I talked with a tech at XFX asking if their 6900 XT XTreme AGP would drive a Dell 24inch via DVI out at its native resolution of 1920x1200 and he said no—only if I use the analogo out. He said to be sure to ask because specs for most AGP cards imply 1920x1200 at DVI but don't. Seems there is some confusion even among techs.

I'm not lucky enough to own a 24" panel:) so can't say from experience; I expect any VGA card, no matter high/mid/low end to feature a RAMDAC chip capable of high enough 2D graphics, guess my expectations are a bit wrong? :/

best way is indeed to contact a company's sales department, they'll forward the technical questions to their tech support in order to give you correct advise and try to make a sale:)

Thanks jmke,

I've just emailed BFG's sales. Will let you know their answer.

Aloha,

Kerry

Now I'm a bit confused!

I have a Dell 2407". When I first got it I ran it via my 9600XT card... it worked fine via DVI or VGA. My understanding is that even single-link DVI ports (99% sure mine is a single) will work up to 1920x1200, but no higher without using a dual-link DVI.

Regardless I've used both that card's VGA and DVI out ports to power a 24" 1920x1200 monitor, so I would tend to imagine any mid to high range card made since the 9600/9800 era would work just fine.
