35 years of Intel chip design

The 4004 microprocessor, which debuted 35 years ago, was Intel's first microprocessor.

Intel's first x86-based chip, the 5MHz 8086, was introduced on June 9, 1978.

The Intel 286, originally known as the 80286, was the first Intel processor that could run all the software written for its predecessor.
