2 different systems - windows installations fails..... aaargh 1 Attachment(s) Hi, I'm trying to install Windows XP (and also Vista) on a HTPC. I't's booting fine into an already installed hard disk (using XP) but I want to do a new install, as it's a new system. I get following error message: The system is - Intel E5200 - 1 gig DDR2 memory - 320 gig sata hard disk - sata DVD RW - Asus P7N something mobo (with the integrated nvidia 9400) But I also have an IDE hard disk, other PSU, E4700 cpu, tons of memory, and other mainboard (MSI X3100 intel integrated), separate VGA card, ... Even with a completely other system I have the same message. Is it because of the recent chipsets ? They also have both the latest BIOS installed... Anybody an idea ? The last thing I'm going to do is try using an XP or vista CD with integrated service pack, but really odd it isn't working... Also disabled all the features in BIOS. Getting depressed of this :( |
try XP SP2 CD , vanilla XP CD will sometimes not work with newer hardware |
Yes, way to many issues with the original XP disc. SP1 or SP2 is required during installs now, if just because the original XP had a 132GB drive limit and other issues... |
Make a slipstream cd with service pack 2 or 3 included. Nlite is the program to use: nLite I had a similar problem with an Asus K8V-XE mobo. Worked fine with Ubuntu but bluescreens with the Windows XP cd. A slipstreamed version with SP 2 worked like a charm. |
