6Mbit more then enough for anything but large file transfers:) |
More findings: - PCI card gives way better results/connection than cardslot (test on 10 metres from router, behind two walls : pci - 177KB/sec / cardslot - 122KB/sec) - play with the position of your antenna, positioning the antenna 1 metre higher on the first flour improved the connection drastically on the ground floor - Kiss dvd player + i-net radio + wireless here i come :super: |
the AP here is set on the lower floor, when i'm on the 2nd floor i have full reception ( 54mbps ), but I must say i where right on top of it and it was with a laptop |
Finally came around to actually installing it. Added 1 cheap wireless router and wiring, disabled DHCP on 1 router and both their IP's and SSID's (and security) and it worked flawless immediatly !! Thought it would be a nightmare configuring it ... but it was extremly simple. Nice bonus is the added coverage, combining the two signals apparantly gives an extra boost to the range: where the coverage at point 1 at approx. 30 meters from AP1 was about 10-15% it is now 20-25% by adding AP2 at approx. 40 meters from that point. |
