Virtual Memory settings

Server has 1Gb Ram, OS = W2K

The OS keeps using the virtual memory (page file) more than the physical memory.

Is there any way to reverse this ?
Is lowering the amount of virtual memory a solution ?

The thing it does is placing non active programs in it's cache to have as much as possible RAM available is case something needs it. (this is the thing win98 DIDN'T do)

It places soo much things in it's cache only 10% of the ram is used ... but that's OK then ?

Why bother to buy soo much ram then :D

The second you'll need it, you'll appreciate things.

It does overdo it sometimes. But it's a pretty 2 way intelligence.
Active process RAM, passive process Cache.

There is a trick to lessen the use of the swap file, but I'm not sure whether is works w/ an NT based OS.

In ur system.ini, add under the [386enh] section:
Conservativeswapfileusage=1

And if you're still not happy, just disable the swapfile :D
