USB flashdrive for Vista's ReadyBoost? Any recomendations as to which flash drive is mo betta for using soley for Vista's ReadyBoost. Articles I've read suggest that the two top contenders are Apacer's HT203 4GB and SanDisks U3 Cruiser Micro 4GB. From what I gather if one has 2 GB RAM then it's best to get a 4 GB flashdrive. I don't think it's realy worth buying a 4Gb flash drive soleley for using ready boost. It's a nice feature, but it's not very usefull, especialy if you already have a lot of memory. I remember tought that there has been a review on toms hardware guide about memory sticks, they've also looked into readyboostness. I can't seem to find the review back, but here's a link about superfetch and readyboost performance: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/...boostanalyzed/ |
it's a nice feature if you have a system which is too old to receive a memory upgrade, but fact is that your P4 is not that old, you can easily get 2x512mb sticks and run 3gb with Vista and be at the high end scale! |
There are internal ReadyBoost optimized SSD coming out. Heres a link to one http://www.dvnation.com/windows-vist...eadydrive.html Just remember that Vista can only use 4Gig, so I would suggest looking for a good preforming 4Gig stick ( I have one plugged in the back of my PC 24/7 ). Also note that not all USB sticks are fast enough to preform, do some research with each stick you are thinking of buying and pick up the fastest one you can afford. ReadyBoost is the best thing to come out of Vista, I really wish it would support larger. But with SSD Hard Drives coming out soon they will make ReadyBoost useless. |
Anandtech's tests show different, internal memory gives you a much higher boost than any readyboost stick can ever accomplish: Quote:
