system unstable running at stock speeds

Hi,

First of all this is what i am using:

DFI NF2 Ultra infinity (nforce 2 chipset)
Amd athlon xp 3000+ (barton core 2*200mhz)
2 sticks of 512mb ddr400 ram (pc3200)
sparkle geforce fx5200 128mb
samsung 160gb s-ata 7200rpm

I have a multiplier set at 10.5 and fsb of 200mhz, which is recommended for this processer and still windows is unstable and i get blue screens and crashes even when it is idleing. I dont want to do any extreme overclocking but i do want to get the best out of what i have. I think i have to adjust memory timing to make the system more stable.
any help would be grately appreciated

Thank you,

P.S could my processor be fake it didn't come in a (processer in a box) package just a small blue cardboard box with 2 pieces of foam in it

Download CPUZ to ID your processor -
